Sophie Layman, a junior at RCHS, will travel to Indianapolis, IN in November as a member of the national FFA band to perform to nearly 70,000 FFA members, parents and guests at the 76th National FFA Convention. Sophie is 1 of 100 FFA members selected from across the nation including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. In the past, WV usually has 1-2 FFA members selected to be a part of the national band about every 8 years; the last WV participate was selected in 2018. Congratulations, Sophie!

As the staff of Ritchie County Schools came back to start the 23-24 school year, we had some special people awarded for their achievements. Congratulations go to each of these people. Andy Cain earned the Jeff Sheets award for bus drivers. Bonnie Holbert was awarded our 23-24 Service Person of the Year Award. Heather Lafferre was awarded our 23-24 Teacher of the Year Award. We also honored our retirees at our assembly. Congratulations to all of our retirees. Rusty Gay and Janet Dodd are pictured here with their awards. We are so thankful to each of these people for their dedication to the students of Ritchie County. We hope to have an amazing year. We can’t wait to see our young people when school starts on the 17th.
Don't forget Freshman Transition is tonight from 6-8 pm. Please use the front entrance to enter. Students are welcome to come at any time and stay as long as needed. Refreshments will be provided between 6-7 pm and a parent session will begin at 7 pm.
